5th Grade Activities

Plan activities and volunteer for 5th Grade Day celebration.

Bake Sale

Bake sale committee will be assisting the committee head in baking, tagging and selling of baked goods at the sales throughout the school year. Bake sales are during open house, holiday show and the spring concert.

Blue Moon

Be available to volunteer at a moment's notice for any school activity that is low on volunteers.

Book Fair

Help setup and teardown Scholastic book fair. Assist children with shopping. Book sales typically occur twice a year including the last week in February for Read Across America week.

Career Awareness

The Career Awareness Program brings parents of intermediate school students into the classroom to present on their jobs and careers within the community. This committee (one person for each grade) is responsible for recruiting parent speakers, and working with parents, faculty, and staff to schedule career presentations throughout the school year.

Community Outreach

Work with chair to develop and execute a project in which JHIS staff/teachers and students/families benefit the local community. Including Food Drive and other charitable projects. The committee will also assist in collection and distribution of items.

Decorating Committee

This committee consists of two sub-committees. The Birthday/Bulletin Board committee and the Holiday Set committee. The Bulletin Board designers will assist the chair with decorating the monthly birthday bulletin board and the holiday bulletin boards. The Holiday Set team will work with the chair to design and build a set for the school holiday program based on the theme provided by the Music teacher.

Earning for Learning

Help count box tops and assist with contests.

Family Bingo Night

Plan, decorate, assist with entertainment, food and all events including set-up and clean-up for Bingo Night.

Field Day

Assist with planning, preparation of outdoor related games and activities for the one-day event held at the end of May or early June. Usually including Water balloon toss, sponge relay, Kona Ice Truck and assisting in collecting donations of ice and water bottles for the day of the event.

Assisting the chair with collecting, sorting, pulling and distributing fundraiser information packets and sale orders when they ship. Including events like flower sales, coin battle and spirit wear.

Holiday Shop

Helps with set up, tear down and assisting students with shopping throughout the week of Holiday Shoppe, December 3-7, 2018.

Library/Office Helper

Assist in re-shelving books in the school library and/or helping to make copies for the teachers during scheduled school hours. Shifts will be scheduled with the chair and librarian.

Read Across America

Assist the chair in coordinating and planning a themed reading week from February 25 - March 1, 2019.

Red Ribbon Week

As a member of this committee you will assist the Chair and Co-chair with decorations, planning and set up for the event. Scheduled for Friday, October 26th.

Room Parent / Auction

As a member of this committee you will assist Head Homeroom parents in set-up/clean-up for parties and help work the auction table during the Family Bingo Night.

Teacher and Staff  Appreciation Luncheon

Help plan theme and food items, décor, setup and clean up for teacher and staff luncheon during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.  Tentative lunch date, May 10, 2019.
